Jiffy 5032 Professional Greenhouse 25-Plant Starter Kit
Customer Reviews
these are a wonderful starter for those who have no green thumbs, and i would also guess for those who have them.
just add water and they expand and allow the seeds to be covered. the greenhouse works great in an apartment..i can have it in the window and not have to worry about any drafts.
i am using it to make a small herb garden, and so far everything is growing well. its the first seeds ive ever planted that didnt die within the first week.
I bought this product in a 72 pot size last year. I am a beginning gardener with moderate experience growing, but little experience using my own seedlings. I had GREAT success in my new outside beds using the seeds I germinated with Jiffy peat pots. I could see a huge difference in the quality of my own lettuce, basil and squash that I planted using the pots vrs. the starts I got at a local garden store. My basil leaves were dark luxurious and 4 times the size of the garden store starters.
I tried to start carrots with the pot. I thought perhaps if I tore the netting on the bottom, there would be no problem. I was wrong! I grew weird misshapen carrots! I put them in a chicken soup and they were yummy... just weird looking.
Sooo... then I ran out of peat pots. I used some from a local garden shop that were expensive when you buy them individually and NOT AS GOOD! I got about 40% germination.
I tried to fill the bottom with "seed starter" planting mix and got good germination, but the plants were fragile and only very few lived long enough to make it into my beds this year. I was on this site today to buy the actual Jiffy peat pots to give this another try with the same elements that gave me so much success the first time.
If you want some great inspiration for easy, successful, raised garden beds, search for "Square Foot Gardening" on Amazon. I have garden beds on my driveway! I get a great yield out of a small space.
